A Tavern in the Sky

Spanning Park Hyatt Shanghai’s 91st to 93rd floors, 100 Century Avenue is the world’s highest restaurant, bar and private dining destination. With swirling onyx mosaic flooring, gigantic cloud-inspired plaster wall murals, dramatic art installations, 25-meter-high floor-to-ceiling windows, multiple show kitchens and live jazz entertainment, the sprawling 2,870-square-meter space has been designed to reverberate with energy and excitement.
On the 91st floor, an informal 300-seat “tavern” serves Western, Chinese and Japanese cuisine. A variety of seating is available to suit all moods: walnut wood log cabin-style chairs in the main dining areas, bar seating at the charcuterie, counter seating at the sushi bar, intimate private booths and four private rooms, with the same menu available throughout. Upstairs, the 92nd floor is split into two bars, a 145-seat bar on the west side featuring live music performances, a resident DJ and various themed parties; and a cozy 60-seat Shanghai Lounge on the east side, perfect for pre- or post-prandial drinks. Gracing the 93rd floor is a residential-style “gathering place” with contemporary Nordic-style décor, which can cater for dining events with up to 180 guests or cocktail parties for up to 250.
The restaurant works with only the freshest produce, from fish flown in three times a week from Tokyo to seven varieties of fresh oysters from the US and Wagyu beef from Australia. Sashimi Small Platter
(RMB325+15% Service Charge) is an eye-catching Japanese delicacy. With freshly prepared fish served on top of a big bowl full of small ice blocks and accompanied by simple decorations, it looks like an exquisitely-made artwork. Mix some mustard with the appetizing vinegar, dip a piece of the fresh fish into the mixture: a cool and smooth feeling pervades the mouth, revealing the tasty tenderness of the fish and ending with a lingering sense of refreshment.
After the main course, order a piece of the restaurant’s signature desert, 100 Century Avenue Cake (RMB150+15% Service Charge), sit back and observe the splendid sights, such as the Oriental Pearl Tower, which so perfectly compliment the dining experience here.
