The Hyatt on the Bund hotel, located on the banks of the Huangpu River in central Shanghai, offers spectacular views of both the Bund and Pudong, with convenient access to Shanghai's airports and major areas of the city. Shanghai, once known as the "Paris of the East", has a combination of historical and ultra-modern architecture, making it a city where old and new and east and west harmoniously co-exist.

Situated on the east coast of China and just south of the Yangtze River, Shanghai attracts both business people and tourists from all corners of the world. And Hyatt on the Bund offers guests a unique experience with its wide variety of stylish venues for dining, sophisticated comfort, and functional meeting rooms equipped with advanced technological equipment.

Yuan Spa, spread over 3,000-square-metres, is dedicated to all aspects of health and wellbeing. It encompasses a 25-metre swimming pool, a fully equipped 24-hour fitness centre, a hair salon, and a juice bar. The spa facilities include 12 treatment rooms, four of which feature their own shared relaxation area, making them ideal for private groups. Spacious changing areas lead to whirlpools and cold plunge pools and steam, sauna and relaxation rooms.

Inspiration for Yuan Spa derived from the flow and natural beauty of a river (Yuan translates as "source of ancient water" in Chinese), coupled with the simple serenity of ancient Chinese bathing rituals. There is, quite literally, ‘water, water everywhere’ to saturate the senses. As the visitor descends a spiral staircase into the tranquil lower lobby, a boulder-lined river spanning the length of the vast atrium hints at the aqueous experience that awaits. A number of the treatment rooms have been designed so quests are able to imagine they're being pampered on an idyllic riverbank. Twin glass walls, with a stonefilled "river" running between the panes, allow guests the soothing view of water washing over rocks.

The interior of Yuan Spa mixes modern, clean lines with an authentic Chinese aesthetic. Light wood and stone in calming natural shades is complimented with darker, Oriental antique reproductions.

Combining traditional Chinese wellness and beauty philosophies with European aromatherapy and skincare treatments, Yuan Spa utilizes natural and local ingredients recognized for enhancing natural beauty, wellbeing and longevity. The signature Yuan Massage by RMB 780 for 60 min use hot towel compresses and a jade stone baler to restore the energies of the body, draws on the traditions of Chinese medicine by targeting acupressure points and meridian lines for fill relaxation and renewal. The 90 min Yuan Facial Treatments by RMB 1080 also use the strategic application of jade combined with oxygenating algae and vitamin V to cleanse, enrich, and give skin the warm luster, translucency, purity resiliency and grace that characterizes the stone.

The spa experience commences with a welcome foot ritual - a Chinese "foot soak" harnessing the cleansing and antioxidant benefits of oolong tea - followed by a calming foot massage with a traditional jade massage roller.

The Yuan Spa menu focuses on three core themes: "Serenity", promoting calm and "Vitality", to rejuvenate and renew energy, and Wellness. Adjacent to the spa is a fitness centre equipped by the US brand Star Trac, including cross trainers, steppers and exclusive spinning bikes, all equipped with personal screens showing satellite TV.
